Sol Verde is the place within the habitat dedicated to cultivation — an ongoing exploration of how people and land can grow together.

The project began with permaculture practices aimed at restoring land that had long been cultivated with maize. Through terraces, water management, planting and careful stewardship, the soil has gradually recovered, allowing biodiversity to return and creating refuge for birds and wildlife.

Today, the landscape is home to a growing agroforestry system of cacao, bananas, plantains, fruit trees, medicinal plants and native species, all cultivated organically.

Special attention has also been given to maguey, an endemic plant traditionally used by the people of San Pablo La Laguna to make ropes and other everyday objects.

The work of cultivation extends beyond Sol Verde into the greenhouse and plant nursery at Sante, where trees and edible plants are propagated for use throughout the habitat.

Sol Verde remains a work in progress — a living laboratory where regeneration, biodiversity and cultivation continue to evolve together.
